Statement from Commissioner Myles Davidson Regarding the Attorney General's Statement

13 Dec, 2024 | Return|

I commend the Attorney General for issuing a clear statement affirming that the City of Oklahoma does not hold sovereignty over Oklahoma County. This underscores the importance of maintaining the distinct and collaborative roles of municipalities and counties, as defined by our
state's laws and Constitution.

Oklahoma County serves all residents within its borders, providing essential services to its communities. While we value our partnership with the City of Oklahoma City, it is critical that we operate within our respective jurisdictions.

This clarification from the Attorney General reinforces our commitment to transpareney, accountability and the fair administration of local government. We look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with all municipalities within Oklahoma County to meet the needs of our shared residents while respecting the boundaries of our respective authorities.

Myles Davidson
Oklahoma County Commissioner
District 3
