Murder Charges to be Filed in Lake Arcadia Mass Shooting

07 May, 2026 | Return|

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 6, 2026

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma County District Attorney, Vicki Zemp Behenna, will file a charge of Felony Murder in the First Degree against Jaylan Davis, 18 in connection with the deadly shooting at Arcadia Lake that killed an 18-year-old woman and dozens of others injured.

The charge stems from a mass shooting reported shortly after 9:00 p.m. on May 3, 2026, near the Scissortail Campground area at Arcadia Lake. The shooting occurred during an unsanctioned gathering attended by a large crowd of young people from across the metro area. Edmond Police Department officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire and located numerous victims suffering from injuries, including gunshot wounds.

“In high-profile cases like this, it is important that law enforcement take the time necessary to conduct a thorough and careful review that protects the integrity of both the case and any future prosecution,” said DA Behenna.

“Every step must be handled properly, including safeguarding information among partner agencies while the investigation remains active. As with other major cases, investigators must work diligently and confidentially to gather and analyze evidence to ensure everyone responsible is held accountable.”

This investigation remains ongoing by the Edmond Police Department and additional charges and arrests are possible. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Edmond Police Department at 405-359-4338.

The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office extends its condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the young woman who lost her life as a result of this tragedy. Our thoughts remain with all of those impacted by this senseless act of violence.

“This case is a devastating reminder of the growing impact of gun violence among young people in our community,” said DA Behenna. “A young woman lost her life, countless families were forever changed, and an event that should have ended with everyone going home safely instead became a scene of tragedy.”

“We cannot continue to accept this level of violence involving our youth as normal. Meaningful efforts to reduce gun violence and prevent these incidents must be a priority for all of us, including parents, community leaders, educators, law enforcement, and the justice system alike.”

If convicted, the sentence for Felony Murder in the First Degree is life or life without the possibility of parole.

Criminal charges are based on probable cause to believe a person has committed a crime. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
