“The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in shadows of life, the sick, the needy, and the handicapped.” ― Hubert H. Humphrey

The Board meets on the first Monday of every month and every Wednesday thereafter, except on holidays or on special occasions. The Board may set special meetings on 48 hours notice. All sessions are open to the public and held in observance of the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act. Check out the County Calendar to view the meeting schedules, or view the most recent Agendas & Minutes.
The Board of County Commissioners, created by the State Constitution, is composed of three Commissioners elected by the people. The County is divided into three districts, as equal in population as possible and numbered 1, 2, and 3 respectively. One Commissioner is elected from each district. District boundaries are set once every 10 years following the federal census.

There are over 160 bridges listed on the Oklahoma County bridge inventory, 23 of those fall within the boundaries of District 1. Since 2007 District 1 has replaced or constructed 11 new bridges. We currently have engineering services for several upcoming projects. Funding for our bridge projects come from a variety of sources, including county, state and federal dollars.
Under Commissioner Blumert, District 1 has overseen the construction of 124 lane miles of road. Oklahoma County District 1 is responsible for maintaining approximately 169.93 miles of roads within Eastern Oklahoma County. This total includes roads in the unincorporated areas of District 1, as well as the interior roads in all or part of Forest Park, Jones, Nicoma Park and Spencer. Together, these two responsibilities account for approximately 32% of the total road miles in Oklahoma County.
In addition to the primary road responsibilities listed above, District 1 has entered into partnerships for the maintenance and construction of roads with Oklahoma City, Midwest City and Del City.
We have donated the Labor and Equipment for over 42 School Projects allowing that money to be used for our students’ direct needs.
