For More Information Contact: Commissioner Carrie Blumert (405) 713-1501
Oklahoma County - Commissioner Carrie Blumert has officially been named the new Chair of the Board of Directors for the 911 Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (911 ACOG) the organization announced earlier this month. The 911 ACOG board is comprised of county commissioners and local elected officials from across a four-county region.
Recently, 911 ACOG has focused on the implementation of Next Generation 911 (NG911) in the region’s service area.
“I’m thrilled to serve as the Chair of the Board of 911 ACOG. Next Generation 911 will provide our citizens and first responders with the latest technology in placing and responding to 911 calls, ultimately resulting in faster response times in critical situations” said Commissioner Blumert.
Blumert continues, “our telecommunicators who answer 911 calls will receive extensive training in the new NextGen 911 system and we have been planning for this implementation for over two years. Every Oklahoma County resident deserves easy access to 911 services and prompt assistance from first responders. I am committed to guiding 911 ACOG forward to bring these services into the 21st century and honored to be selected Board Chair.”
911 ACOG was formed in 1988 and is funded by service fees from landline and wireless phone users. These funds provide for maintenance, build out, and operation of the 911 systems infrastructure which includes 21 Emergency Communications Centers throughout the four-county region. In addition to system infrastructure, 911 ACOG provides technical assistance and training, as well as planning, for over 50 communities in the four-county area.
Blumert said that those interested in more information about ACOG 911 can contact Brent Hawkinson, ACOG’s 911 and Public Safety Director at (405) 234-2264 or by accessing ACOG’s website: https://www.acogok.org/.
