Commissioner Myles Davidson Proclaims March as Women's History Month in Oklahoma County

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK-  During the Monday, March 2, 2026 meeting of the Oklahoma County Board of
County Commissioners, District 3 Commissioner Myles Davidson officially proclaimed March as Women's
History Month in Oklahoma County, recognizing the vital contributions women have made-and continue
to make-to the community, state, and nation.

"Women have played an essential role in shaping our county's hist01y, strengthening our
communities, and leading across every sector," said Commissioner Davidson. "Women's Hist01y Month
is an opp01tunity to honor those trailblazers who paved the way, as well as the leaders,
professionals, caregivers, and public servants who continue to move Oklahoma County forward every
day."

Commissioner Davidson was joined by Major General Rita Aragon (Ret.), who attended the meeting and
offered remarks in recognition of the proclamation. General Aragon, a respected leader and advocate
for veterans and women in service, spoke about the imp01tance of honoring the courage, resilience,
and leadership of women throughout histo1y and encouraged continued mentorship and support for
future generations.

The proclamation highlights the achievements of women in government, education, healthcare,
business, public safety, the military, and volunteer service, while also acknowledging the ongoing
pursuit of equality and opportunity for future generations.

Commissioner Davidson also expressed gratitude for the many women serving within Oklahoma County
government, noting their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public service.

"Oklahoma County is stronger because of the women who serve our residents with compassion, skill,
and leadership," Davidson added. "Their impact is seen in every department and eve1y community we
represent."

Residents are encouraged to observe Women's History Month by celebrating the accomplishments of
women past and present, supporting women-owned businesses, mentoring young women and girls, and
learning more about the history and contributions of women in Oklahoma and across the nation.
