For More Information Contact: Commissioner Carrie Blumert (405) 713-1501
JONES – Today, District One County Commissioner Carrie Blumert toured the recently opened Jones Public Schools Early Childhood Center. The Early Childhood Center, which opened in November of 2022, was approved by district voters in an October 2019 Bond Election.
The new facility is a 40,000-square-foot extension of the existing elementary school and serves 220 students in Pre-K thru 1st grade. In addition to the new classroom space, the building serves as the new primary entryway, houses administrative offices, and contains special education classrooms and a multi-purpose room that doubles as the school’s storm shelter. The project also included new parking areas and pickup lanes for the facility.
Blumert, whose district includes Jones, said her crews could partner with the Jones School District to aid in the project’s construction by performing the initial site preparation, which included clearing the land and the initial building pad construction. District One Crews also built new parking areas and bus and pickup lanes.
“I’m so excited that our crews were able to play a part in this new facility,” said Blumert. “Anytime we can partner with our schools to help them save on construction costs is a win-win for our students and the school district,” she said. Blumert said, “our crews love being part of something for the next generation.”
The Jones Early Childhood Center project is not the first time District One has helped the district. Over the years, the two entities have worked together several times to serve the students, teachers, and parents of Jones Public Schools.
In addition to the work on the Early Childhood Center, District One crews had also assisted in constructing the football field and adjacent facilities. The football field renovation was also part of the package approved by voters in 2019.
” Commissioner Blumert continues to show up for Jones every time we need help,” said Jones Superintendent Dr. Carl Johnson. Johnson added, “She and her staff respond quickly and always save us significant money to put back in the classroom.”
Commissioner Blumert was accompanied on her visit by Elementary Principal Brooke Guthery, Superintendent Dr. Carl Johnson, and members of her staff.
